Moonshiners is a long-running docu-reality series that follows skilled distillers across the Appalachian region and beyond as they preserve generations-old traditions of crafting small-batch spirits. Blending history, craftsmanship, entrepreneurship, and outdoor adventure, the series explores the ingenuity required to build stills, source ingredients, develop unique recipes, and navigate the challenges of producing liquor in remote locations. At its core, Moonshiners is a celebration of American folk traditions, resourcefulness, and the colorful personalities who keep a distinctive piece of rural culture alive.

Season 11 of Moonshiners (aired 2021-2022) centered on growth, reinvention, and the consequences of success. As demand for moonshine reached new heights, the shiners attempted to expand their operations and capitalize on a booming market, while dealing with more police busts and increased competition that comes with such a boon in business.

World famous distiller Tim Smith travels to Oaxaca Mexico to learn the roots of tequila and mescal distillation. On his travels, he gets a crash course in mescal manufacturing.

Five part still build scene, utilizing a non-descript house in the Virginian countryside to run an undercover illegal liquor operation.

Season 12 of Moonshiners (aired 2022-2023) focused on resilience, ingenuity, and survival in a changing economic landscape. Faced with inflation, supply-chain shortages, rising ingredient costs, increased competition, and relentless law-enforcement pressure, the shiners were pushed to their limits.
